The VSAN Butterfly Valve operates on the Quarter-Turn Rotary Disc Principle.
The valve consists of a circular disc mounted on a shaft positioned at the center of the valve body. When the actuator or handle rotates the shaft through 90 degrees, the disc rotates simultaneously to control the flow of the process fluid.
When the disc is positioned parallel to the direction of flow, the valve is fully open, allowing maximum flow with minimal pressure drop. As the disc rotates toward the closed position, the flow area gradually decreases, enabling accurate flow regulation.
When rotated to the fully closed position, the disc presses tightly against the resilient or metal seat, providing a leak-tight seal and preventing fluid passage. Depending on the application, the valve can be operated manually or automatically using pneumatic, electric, or hydraulic actuators.
The simple quarter-turn mechanism provides quick operation, low operating torque, and reliable performance, making the butterfly valve suitable for both isolation and throttling applications.
